“I thought this beautiful art was just practice for the old school...this new school of fly fishermen brings oxygen to the art that is fly fishing
Campeche is going to change your life. Experiencing different food, a different fishery, and a different culture all in one is what makes it so impactful. That is what I love the most about running Campeche Tarpon with my family—sharing it with people who are coming for the very first time. As an adult, or as a kid, there are parts of Campeche for everyone. For me it has always been a pleasure showing
my land to older fly fishermen who’ve traveled from around the world, but it was awesome to finally get to see teenagers embrace the significance and beauty that I see
in this place.
Fish for Change expanded my mind in every way, but especially in the world of fly fishing. Showing Campeche
to my generation of fly anglers was and will always be a
great honor. Fortunately, this new school of fly fishermen
brings oxygen to our art that is fly fishing. I thought this beautiful art was just practice for the old school. Fortunately, I now know that fly fishing will be around for a long time, thanks to the new generation, and thanks to the people who really care about the sport and the environment.
Since the last day of Fish for Change Programs, it’s been on my mind that is going to take a lot of effort and a lot of time for all of us, but we are already saving the world. If we just keep together as one, continue teaching the next generations how important our environment is and learn from them, we can and will find the right way. I am more than grateful for F4C for knocking at my door, and being part of this historical, magical journey. It makes me feel proud, and makes me feel that I, and we, are all on the right path.
