Fish for Change is nothing without our student body. Our students create our values, goals, and purpose. We currently have the chance to empower four wonderful student leaders within the organization. They have each grown up as students with Fish for Change and now serve the organization through outstanding leadership as interns. Each internship is specific to the college students' talents. Delaney is majoring in education and has served every hat of the organization over the past two years. Ellen is interested in history and writing and manages everything marketing-focused. Bodhi is in film school and creates magic with his photography and videography. We also have a very special volunteer working with us this month! May is majoring in corporate communications and is helping with the behind-the-scenes for our Fort Worth fundraising event. This is an opportunity to pursue career passions and serve the organization. At Fish for Change, we are building curious, empathetic, confident, passionate leaders. This does just that. Get to know them below!
My name is Ellen Bogucki, and I am the Marketing Intern here at Fish for Change! I have been running Instagram for the past two years and will now be writing the newsletters and blogs! I am from Lakewood, CO, right on the edge of the foothills with super close access to some amazing water! Fishing serves me in all aspects of connection; it is how I connect with myself, my community, and nature. Fishing has given me my closest friends, my worldview, and opportunities to grow into who I am and who I want to be. My first year with Fish for Change was in 2023, and it has been a constant in my life since then. I associate the feelings of awareness and love with F4C. F4C is a bundle of learning and broadening your awareness and consciousness about new cultures, new people, new skills, etc. It is also an opportunity for you to dive deeper into your own thought processes and discover new levels of your mind! This internship plays a major role in my personal goals; it has mainly helped me find my own voice and also has helped me figure out what kind of impact I want to have. Marketing has helped me rekindle my love of writing, and above all, it has helped me be able to communicate effectively with others. It has given me loads of new connections, including becoming the President of the Montana State University fly fishing club, and I cannot wait to see where this internship takes me. Fish for Change has changed my life in countless ways. F4C has introduced me to some of the best people, the best places, and endless amounts of knowledge that make me eager for more! I am so grateful to be a part of this team and to continue creating the magic and joy that is Fish for Change.
Up next is our wonderful Film Intern, Bodhi Moomaw. Bodhi was born and raised in Kauia, Hawaii, and has always been a skilled photographer, videographer, and fly fisherman. Fishing serves Bodhi by giving him an opportunity to pursue his passions for fly fishing and film. While simultaneously making connections and meeting other like-minded people. Bodhi first attended a Fish for Change program in 2021, and it changed his life in ways he never thought possible. It allowed him to not only explore himself and discover who he really is, but also to broaden his perspectives and immerse himself in a different culture. Bodhi has met many lifelong friends, and he has found a sense of community that he knows will always be there for him. Bodhi’s internship has pieced together the two things that he is the most passionate about in life, fly fishing and film. Bodhi is so passionate about these programs, and he is so excited to see where F4C will take him!
Last but not least, is our wonderful administrative intern, Delaney Hutcheson. Fishing for Delaney connects her pieces together. She grew up with fishing as a major pillar in her family, and now it's the model that structures her life and creates bonds from all over the world. Delaney’s first year with F4C was in 2019 at the Girls Week in Guanaja. Delaney associates Fish for Change with gratitude and power. She is forever grateful for the people she has been introduced to, and she feels so powerful knowing how large the world is now. There is so much we can do to protect our home planet! Her internship has opened so many doorways for friendships and such amazing people she has met in the industry. Knowing that the opportunities are endless if the drive is there has opened her perspectives on her future an incredible amount. Fish for Change has given Delaney lifelong friendships across the world that she knows won’t falter with distance, but strengthen as everyone continues to grow and find places in the world!
We are so happy to have May working with us this week at the Fort Worth fundraising events. May’s first year of Fish for Change was in 2023, and she has attended programs each summer since. May has an incredible talent for leadership, and her voice is incredibly powerful and impactful. Her balance of humor and deep reflection has made her a great example of what Fish for Change is. We are ecstatic to see how far she goes in life, and very lucky that she is a part of programs!
Thank you for getting to know all of us a little more, and we are so happy to be able to serve Fish for Change and this wonderful community. F4C is a magnet for wonderful students who are eager to learn and be immersed in new worlds. Thank you for being a part of it all!
