For Maikell, Fish for Change is special to him as it gave him to opportunity to meet new friends with the same passion, being able to share his own culture with people from across the world. "I find it unique and original program, for the simple fact that it is based on fly fishing, there is nothing like it" he shares. The Journey of Water has offered him a rare opportunity to delve deeper into this fishing style, exposing him to incredible fishing locations across Costa Rica, such as the cooler climate in the Talamanca mountains, home to the rainbow trout—a stark yet thrilling contrast to his tropical hometown. His favorite memory from the trip experience was the thrilling moment of casting flies for tarpon in the dense jungle. "It was very nice—the excitement of seeing how, with practice, we gradually improve our technique," he recalls, emphasizing the invaluable lessons on casting he received from skilled guides.
